Thinking.

I’m thinking that I’ve made my blog too personal over the last few months, and I’m gonna make it a lot more fun. Since I got my new computer, I’ve now got the opportunity to use my webcam and do video blogs…so I might do that. I’m also going to start posting new photos and junk…cause I have a ton on the computer that I never got round to doing.

This especially will happen when I finally get back to the UK. Just not sure really how to go about it all….I know it will mean that I will have to put in a lot more effort into looking un zombie-like and more like a human being, lol.

Smile!

So this morning we took Abby to the Picture People to get her photo taken. I like to get one done at least twice a year, and because she didn’t have one taken on her 3rd birthday this year we took her today instead. Abby behaved herself really well and she’s always been good at following directions when it comes to photography…so we got some really nice photos out of the shoot. I took along a couple of props with me, such as her favourite toy giraffe Jeffrey and one of her favourite books- The Cat In The Hat. Abby’s a big Dr Seuss fan :D And because of coupons and our Portrait Club membership, we didn’t have to pay for anything. So it was a good trip all round, which I like because it’s quite a trek to the Picture People in the first place.

And then this evening, we marinated some chicken and the three of us sat out in the back garden grilling. While Nick was at the grocery store, me and Abby sat out with a ball and a bubbles set and played. I found this really cool bubble blower at the local dollar store and she loves it because it helps her to blow bubbles easier (Abby has problems with regular bubble wands). Then when Nick came back from the store, we all played a game of football (soccer) and we all had a lot of fun. I like it when the three of us can hang out, because Nick works so much. I’d honestly like it if we could do it more often.

New Shoes, New Page and New Book

And so yes. The never-ending book shopping spree still continues. I bought a strategy guide for World of Warcraft yesterday. It was $25 which I thought was pretty expensive…but I bought it anyway because I’m a big sucker.

I may end up taking it back and getting it exchanged for a few cheaper items. I’ve never felt guilty for spending my hard earned money on books, but I am starting to feel a little stupid for spending $25 on ONE book. I’ll let Nick look at it a little later, and if he likes it and feels he can use it then we’ll keep it. If not, then it’s back to Borders you go! :p

I also got a new pair of shoes yesterday, which I was desperately in need of. I needed to replace my canvas slip ons so I found a really awesome Airwalk pair that I found at Payless (hey, don’t knock it till you try it!) I live for Payless Shoes…they have some really awesome stuff that doesn’t break my budget.

I want to replace my black leather ballet flats next and they had some really awesome pairs…but I REFUSE to buy American Eagle shoes. I made a pact with myself that I would never give any of my money to richie-rich, preppy kid companies like AE or Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister. Those places just make my skin crawl and they’re so pretentious. So even though I liked the shoes, I have my principles. I’ll check out what they have at Target…I might find something I like there ;)

And last but definetely not least, I now have a photo gallery with a few photos of myself and Abby. Feel free to peruse at your own time ;) It’s the second page which is called ‘Blurred Negatives’ :D

Graduations

We all had a graduation party to attend this afternoon. It was Nick’s cousin and he’s also the last to graduate from high school until one of the little guys gets there (Colton, Abby and any one else who comes along in the future). He’s the youngest of the cousins, and Nick is the oldest- an age gap of 14 years. There was the giant spread of photos of the graduate through the years and Nick was also on there holding him when he was a baby. I have not seen one bad photo of my hubby, well there’s a few of him when he was a kid…but as a teenager- COME TO MAMA! I married such a hot man, he doesn’t look any different now than he did 14 years ago. A little bit more facial hair and obviously a little taller, but looks wise he was hot then and he’s hot now- I’m a lucky woman :D

Public Enemies

They’ve been filming a new Johnny Depp movie in the area where I live. They’re also filming in Chicago and Indiana. I attempted to get a peek downtown…but all I saw was crew guys coming in and out of the Historical Society (which used to be a bank and they were using it as such for the movie). The crew told all us eager beavers that the cast were currently eating lunch. Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and someone else were all inside the building. Security was majorly tight and one day we were driving down Prospect Avenue and the road was closed half way down. They were filming… ON A ONE WAY STREET! The Eastside is already gridlocked as can be and then one of the main roads and bus routes was closed off to cause even more hassle. I know they’re trying to film a movie…but COME ON!! Gridlock and chaos ensured, of course. We gave up trying to move even two inches in the end, parked the car and spent the afternoon at George Webb’s. I remember everyone had the same idea as the restaurant was packed and the East Side was crazy. You couldn’t get anywhere near the film set though as the police were protecting the set, what a bummer :(

I love John Dillinger and his story with Baby-Faced Nelson and all the other guys. I seriously cannot wait for next year to come around, I want to see this movie so badly :D

Here’s some of the pics that I got downtown. They’re not much, but it gives you a little idea ;)

Father’s Day

Today is Father’s Day. I forgot to get Nick a card, so me and Abby made him one instead. I hope he likes it, Abby and I really worked hard at it. She picked out the photo for the front and I wrote on the card and did some little twiddly bits to it. It’s nice, nothing fancy or girly…pretty manly actually. Abby was so proud of herself when she’d finished her part, she coloured on the card too and then I put the photo on top of her scribbles…it’s like a Jackson Pollack painting with an added photo :D

We’re going over to his Mom’s house in a little while, so I have some stuff to get done before we go. I just put Abby down for a nap and I’m gonna get the dishes done and probably put my feet up for a little bit. While playing Lego Star II. After the post about Indiana Jones and Batman the other day, I figured it was time for me to break the game out again- I’d forgotten what a good game it is ;)
