Smile!

So this morning we took Abby to the Picture People to get her photo taken. I like to get one done at least twice a year, and because she didn’t have one taken on her 3rd birthday this year we took her today instead. Abby behaved herself really well and she’s always been good at following directions when it comes to photography…so we got some really nice photos out of the shoot. I took along a couple of props with me, such as her favourite toy giraffe Jeffrey and one of her favourite books- The Cat In The Hat. Abby’s a big Dr Seuss fan :D And because of coupons and our Portrait Club membership, we didn’t have to pay for anything. So it was a good trip all round, which I like because it’s quite a trek to the Picture People in the first place.

And then this evening, we marinated some chicken and the three of us sat out in the back garden grilling. While Nick was at the grocery store, me and Abby sat out with a ball and a bubbles set and played. I found this really cool bubble blower at the local dollar store and she loves it because it helps her to blow bubbles easier (Abby has problems with regular bubble wands). Then when Nick came back from the store, we all played a game of football (soccer) and we all had a lot of fun. I like it when the three of us can hang out, because Nick works so much. I’d honestly like it if we could do it more often.

Memorial Day 2008

I’d like to dedicate this post to my Grandad. He died in 2005 and was a war hero from WW2. I miss him so much and may he rest in peace.

So I wake up this morning to find that my daughter has somehow escaped her bedroom to scribble all over the computer monitor with black permanent marker. Nightmare! Luckily, Nick knew how to take the offending substance with lighter fluid. There’s still a few streaks on it, and I’ll take those off in a minute.

Other than that, my day has been pretty uneventful. Me and Nick fell into bed together last night at the same time (around 3am ish) and we woke up at 10am. Which was three hours later than what I usually sleep to, but believe you me, I felt so good when I woke up. After having three nights of five hour sleep cycles, I think that my body was really ready for a decent nights sleep. I probably could have slept for about another three hours, but at least I didn’t feel like I needed to take a nap this afternoon.

I spent most of the day running to and from the laundry room, and while I was down there I saw that two of my friends had the grill out again. So I went outside to say hi and that was the first time that day that I actually realised how warm it was outside. I hate this depressive period I’m going through at the moment, I just don’t feel like doing anything. I remember when I was living with my parents and my mum would make me sit out in the garden when the weather was nice- just to get some fresh air into my lungs.

It’s only going to get worse tomorrow. Nick’s going to the bank and he said that he’s going to finally buy me Pokemon Diamond that I’ve been pining after for months. Wooooo :D

Hamburgers, Rummage and Sunburn

I’ve been helping a friend with a rummage sale for most of the afternoon. He’s moving to Florida in a couple of months and wants to be done with the majority of his stuff so he doesn’t have so much stuff to move. Which I totally understand. His roommate Ty was supposed to help him with the grill (he decided to sell hamburgers, hotdogs and brats for a buck a piece) and he was also supposed to help him carry some of the stuff back upstairs, but he got his stimulus check this morning and he said he was going to cash it and he’d be right back. That was at 1.30pm and it’s now almost 6.30pm and as far as I know, he’s not back yet. I imagine he’s gone to get high and he’s probably trashed somewhere on someone’s couch. I feel sorry for my friend because he’s a good person and he’s always trying to help people out with stuff and they just take advantage of him. It’s so sad :(

So this afternoon, it was just me and my friend doing the rummage. He sold his stuff and I cooked the food for him. I’m not the best at manning a grill, so he helped me out a little. We had fun, drank Jack Daniels with Coke and ate burgers. In return, he gave me a few items of his that I’d had my eye on- like a cooler, a Star Wars 1985 VHS box set (for Nick) and a mirror. Troy and his friend came by to jokingly hassle us (as they usually do) and I gave him shit and made some smart ass remarks. It’s what I do best. Some people might consider me to be rude or intolerable, but I’m just a very sarcastic person. People think I’m funny but I don’t see it. I’ve always been this way, I used to get a smack across the mouth when I was younger for being so cheeky…but it’s just part of me now and my mum still doesn’t like it :p

Oh and I just looked in the mirror, and my face is all pink. Damn sunburn, I forgot to wear sunscreen :p

Food and Sunshine

Last night, me and Nick marinated a whole cut up chicken in some home-made sauce and left it overnight. We got the barbeque grill out this afternoon (because the weather was gorgeous today) and grilled the chicken, along with some bratwurst. I am absolutely stuffed. Abby didn’t want to come outside and hang out with Nick and I, so I had to stay upstairs with her and keep running downstairs to the back to bring Nick stuff. I’d spend a couple of minutes with him, drink some PBR and then run back upstairs to keep my eye on Abby. Turns out my plan wasn’t as foolproof as I thought.

I was keeping my eye on the chicken while Nick started to run some of the stuff back up to the apartment, and he eventually comes back down stairs and proceeds to tell me that Abby was really naughty and couldn’t be bothered to get up to use the bathroom. So, I get back upstairs while Nick stays with the bbq and Abby is in her bedroom with a pull-up on and she’s been stripped out of her jeans and underwear. I take her shirt off, put her pj’s on and brush her teeth. Since she decided it would be a fun game to pee on the couch, I don’t read her a bedtime story and I tuck her into bed. After shutting the bedroom door and turning out the light, I take a towel to the couch and attempt to soak up some of the pee out of the couch cushions. Sigh. There’s still the towel laid on the couch so if anyone sits down, they won’t get a partially wet butt :p After two brats and a couple of pieces of chicken, I am absolutely stuffed.

I will not be working out tonight because I think it’s safe to say that I got enough of a workout just by going up and down the stairs and carrying stuff up and down from our apartment. Tony Horton and Chalene Johnson can wait 24 hours :p
