Quick Post

So I’m typing a quick entry on a friend’s laptop because my internet connection is currently down and it blows. We’re all over at a friend’s house and we’re watching the Packers game with Jagerbombs every time they score a TD. It’s awesome and there’s peel and eat shrimp, a veggie platter, pot roast and other yummy food. I have a birthday party to attend this afternoon which I hate because:

  1. I hate birthday parties (unless they’re my own)
  2. I am just not in the mood because I just want to sit here all day and veg out with guys watching the football with my guy friends and eat and drink.

In other things, I am not getting the new camera for my birthday but I am getting a new iPod to replace the broken down Shuffle I currently use. They just released a new iPod Nano so I can’t wait to get it and fiddle about with it.

Anyway, I’m gonna get off because I have to have my eardrums blasted out and get a pounding headache from all the screaming. Will type again if I get the internet back in the next century- damn you AT&T :(

Madden 09

Hahaha for the Madden Curse. I hope you have a lousy year with the Jets Mr Favre. It might make you realise what a stupid mistake you made coming back from retirement. Did you think that EA put you on the box front because you’re the #1 QB? No, it’s because you retired. But once again, you had us fooled with your fake tears and stupid sob stories. Get lost, Green Bay don’t need ya anymore. I hope the Jets fans tear you a new one and take you down a peg.

Go Pack Go!!

So after dinner tonight, I decided that I was going to see my neighbour who I had been neglecting a little recently. I decided that I would stop over for about fifteen minutes, just to stop by and say hi. Turns out that the Packers game was on and he had a few munchies going on. So I watched the first quarter of the game and then I realised that I had to stop back home to put Abby to bed.

Nick was still on the couch when I got home, and he had the game on too. Abby was still in her room for throwing half of her dinner on the floor. So I went in there and she was playing with her toy giraffes, I scooped her up for a big hug and then we went to the bathroom so she could use the bathroom and we could brush her teeth (she really tries to do it herself, but I always have to finish it for her).

So after everything was said and done, I went back to my neighbour’s and there was a decent bunch of us by that point all sitting around the tv. The game was good, sure Favre aint playing anymore…but Rodgers showed a lot of promise and I have a lot of faith in the guy. I was never a Favre fan in the slightest, he always seemed slightly arrogant to me, I’m a pretty good judge of character. And this whole ‘Favregate’ thing just showed his true colours in my opinion.

So go Rodgers!! And I hope the Madden curse bites you in your arrogant ass Favre!

Major Fail Of The Day

I know this is going to be really selfish of me, but it’s gonna be really strange seeing Favre in a Number 4 Jets jersey. He can say all he wants that he’s a Jets team member now…but at the end of the day his name will NEVER leave Green Bay. The town isn’t going to change street signs or the name on the Brett Favre Steakhouse because he no longer plays for the franchise.

Part of me was hoping deep down inside that he would reconsider his diva-like rampage on the franchise and would retire again so that the city of Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin could go back to looking forward to the retirement of his number from the franchise. Is that even going ahead still, now that he plays for the Jets? All the records he broke all go with him to the Jets, so Green Bay will no longer be able keep those.

It’s a case of Hank Aaron all over again. Hank Aaron played for the Milwaukee Braves, but when the team moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta all his records went with him and Atlanta became the home of Aaron and the Braves. But he’s still thought of in this city and his fans here still consider this to be his true home since he didn’t play long in Atlanta. Actually, this year we saw a State Trail opened in the Menomonee Valley in his name- The Hank Aaron State Trail. The trail runs from the baseball ground to the lakefront. When Barry Bonds broke his record last year, it bought up all kinds of feelings in this city- some of disgust because they considered his record now to be tarnished. Does Atlanta have anything in honor of this legend?

I don’t know how Brett is going to play in New York, as he’s a country boy in one of the biggest cities in the world. Green Bay is like a hole in the wall compared to New York and there’s no comparison. What will happen in Green Bay now he’s no longer part of the team? Will the Steakhouse change names? Will the streetsign be taken down? I hope they don’t because he’s been one of the franchise’s best players.

Smile!

So this morning we took Abby to the Picture People to get her photo taken. I like to get one done at least twice a year, and because she didn’t have one taken on her 3rd birthday this year we took her today instead. Abby behaved herself really well and she’s always been good at following directions when it comes to photography…so we got some really nice photos out of the shoot. I took along a couple of props with me, such as her favourite toy giraffe Jeffrey and one of her favourite books- The Cat In The Hat. Abby’s a big Dr Seuss fan :D And because of coupons and our Portrait Club membership, we didn’t have to pay for anything. So it was a good trip all round, which I like because it’s quite a trek to the Picture People in the first place.

And then this evening, we marinated some chicken and the three of us sat out in the back garden grilling. While Nick was at the grocery store, me and Abby sat out with a ball and a bubbles set and played. I found this really cool bubble blower at the local dollar store and she loves it because it helps her to blow bubbles easier (Abby has problems with regular bubble wands). Then when Nick came back from the store, we all played a game of football (soccer) and we all had a lot of fun. I like it when the three of us can hang out, because Nick works so much. I’d honestly like it if we could do it more often.

Yay For Boobies!

I just found the most scintillating photos online of women wearing body paint and playing football (soccer to you crazy Americans). It was a women’s match of Austria vs Germany and they were completely nude, apart from a lick of body paint and a thong. Nick liked them, but there’s no way that they could do anything like that in the US. A lot of Americans think that revealing the naked form is gross or trashy or immorally wrong.

Right. I am so glad that I am a European and I don’t have such twisted body issues.
