Tonight was the annual choir party at Di Marini’s. It’s the local pizza joint around these parts, and it’s been around since the 20’s. I’d walked past it a couple of times but never actually eaten there. And today I got to do just that. When I got there, I felt like such a fool because I’d forgotten to bring any money with me…LUCKILY my friends Karen and John paid for my dinner. Shannon’s mom bought pizza for the whole choir so I got one piece of that. Being vegetarian, I picked off the sausage and just ate the pizza with onion and mushroom on it. It was still really, really good. I also got an order of deep-fried eggplant fries, which I know isn’t the best for me but there wasn’t a lot to choose from on the vegetarian side. I was hoping for some eggplant parmigiana, but there wasn’t anything veggie apart from the pizzas. Disappointing, considering that most Italian joints have at least eggplant parmigiana
I got to chat away with most of the choir and thank Gary (the director) for letting me infiltrate the group. His wife Karen, said that I was an important part of the choir now and Kirsten had someone to back her up on 1st Soprano. It’s nice to feel liked and wanted, I’ve not felt this accepted since college. I sat next to Shannon and we joked about stuff for the whole time we were there. She’d had her handbag stolen recently, so I gave her a hug and she showed me her new phone that came out of the insurance. A pink Razr, Shannon looked really happy about it, and because of that I was happy for her. I admire Shannon a whole lot, because even in the most depressing situation she can always put on a happy face. Wish I could be like that.
