Gossipy Biatches

I really cannot stand people who gossip, whether they be male or female. Doesn’t matter about the age either. I just think that it’s not fair to gossip about people and the gossipers should concentrate more on their own lives. It’s just so shallow, are you telling me that people who gossip have nothing better to talk about?

The reason that I’m a little fired up about this is because of something I was watching on Rachael Ray this morning. RR did a section where she took four twenty somethings who loved to gossip about celebrities and they were told that they were not allowed to gossip for 1 week. Well, without gossip they had nothing to talk about and they just sat there together in silence. How shallow is that? Is your life so boring that you have nothing better to do than to pick apart celebrities lives? One of the girls even said that in her head celebrities wern’t real and they only did this stupid stuff so that people would gossip about them. That of course got Rachael all fired up and she went off on a mini-rant about how she was very much a real person and she was only famous because she loved to cook.

I hate stupid shallow people, Nick deals with them on a nightly basis and I feel so bad for him :(

Yeeeee Haa! And a Case of Beer!

So tonight, I went on my yearly excursion down to Summerfest. I know some people around here will go for all 11 days and end up completely broke…but since they stopped doing the Summerfest pin promo a couple of years ago, I can only afford to go once. So, luckily for me Miranda Lambert was coming to town…so I automatically knew what night I would be going this year. And even more lucky, it was on a Sunday so Nick was able to stay home and spend some time with Abby while I went to see my favourite artist in the world :D

I was meeting some people up from the official boards and I had Tom’s number, so I called it when I got down there and they were already by the stage so I walked down there (avoiding the morons on the way- I almost got clobbered with a bratwurst because some drunk twat wasn’t watching what he was doing!). I know the Festival Grounds like the back of my hand, so I knew where the stage was and the quickest way to get to it. I noticed along the way that the Harley stage had undergone a face-lift and it was REALLY nice now. I suppose they did that to coincide with the opening of the Harley museum. Anyway, got down there pretty speedy with not too much hassle and I got to meet Tom, along with Jill and Steph from the board. Super nice people :D

The show started off with a warm up band (who looked strangely like Miranda from a distance) and I thought that I was late for the show…but it turned out I was lucky.

I was going to buy a t-shirt but Crysta the merch manager (also an admin on the board) looked hassled, so I went back a little later and bought the pink ‘CEG’ t-shirt. I really wanted the black ‘Gypsy Soul’ shirt, but they didn’t have it there :( The ‘Wild Card’ shirt looked nice, but I was really drawn to the pink shirt- so of course I bought it. Was a little miffed that it cost $25 instead of $20, but I guess there must have been a merch charge that Summerfest was pinning on them to raise the prices or something.

But eventually, Miranda came on stage looking gorgeous and happy as usual. I cannot remember the whole set list for the life of me but there was a good mix of both albums (New Strings will always hold a special place in my heart because she filmed the video at my first show!) and it would have been an even better night if I didn’t have someone directly singing in my ear (and screaming too!) Unfortunately it was my good ear, so now it will be about as messed up as the other one. Sigh. So yeah…photos. Some are not the best quality, because of the retard next to me who was nudging me the whole night through…but the lighting is so beautiful that I cannot bring myself to delete them! LOL!!

“You mean like a va-kay? ROAD TRIP!!”

Yes, I’m aware that I used a quote from Legally Blonde. I love that movie and I’m not ashamed to say it.

But it has a purpose, I assure you. I just found that I am hopefully going to Kansas City, MO this year for the American Idol auditions. And I’m going with a couple of friends from the DC.org boards. It’s gonna be so much fun. American Idol and the hometown of David Cook?! This is almost too much to comprehend! :D

Soothing Waves

I attempted to cook a frozen pizza tonight for dinner and I supposedly screwed it up. For thin crust pizza, I like the crust to be crispy and Nick doesn’t like it like that, so he called my pizza burnt. It was not burnt in the slightest, I just like my pizza to be properly cooked. He prefers his to be undercooked, and there’s nothing more I hate on this planet than undercooked, floppy or soggy food. It makes me want to barf. Seriously.

So we started arguing about a stupid pizza and I was not in the mood to just stand there and rebuff his insulting comments about my cooking abilities. I know I can’t cook, retard- there’s no need to rub it in. But I’m not going to get any better if he doesn’t let me try. Everytime I screw up, he goes crazy and screams on about the waste of food. Whatever. So I picked up my purse, put on my flip flops and took my house keys off the hook. I needed to get away from him for about an hour so I walked. My walk this time took me down to the beach, and I just stood there like a stuffed chip staring at the waves on the lake. It was really calming to watch the lake, and after about fifteen minutes I walked across the beach and pushing the sand around with my toes. I felt very grounded and relaxed afterwards so I walked home as I felt like I could now deal with his crap.

Luckily for me, I didn’t have to as he was in a different frame of mind when I got home.

Haircut Time!

I decided over the last couple of days that my hair was starting to really bug me (it was almost to the middle of my back) and I wanted something drastic doing to it because I’d had the same hairstyle for almost the last four years. So I went to the salon, sat in the chair and told them to cut about six inches off. I had my hair but into a bob and I’m so much happier for it. I did something good too, I donated the six inches that I had cut off. So now my old excess hair is on the way to Locks Of Love to be made into a wig for some deserving person.

My head and hair feels so much lighter since I got it cut. Last night was volleyball night and it was nice to think that I didn’t have to tie up my hair to keep it out of my way. We also won last night (probably because I was playing better and I’d had a little practice), I remembered how to serve the ball properly and not smash it in the wrong direction :p Now I just need to work on my jumping to get it over the net. I dug the ball a few times, but it always hits the wrong part of my arm and my forearms were so red for the majority of the game. But it was so worth it because we kicked butt- we’re getting so good at the team work. I think it took getting spanked by Marquette last week to realise what we were doing wrong. I’ve never played on sand courts either so that’s taking a little getting used to.

Celebrity Gossip Update

From http://www.eonline.com

  • Amy Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema. So, so sad as I really respect her talent and I got to meet her around the release of her first album in the early 00’s. I don’t know what she’s like now but she was really nice back then.
  • Martha Stewart has been denied a UK travel Visa. Baha, this made me laugh so much. Even someone as rich as Martha can’t get one, and I totally back up the Home Office on their decision. She’s a convicted felon at the end of the day and a law is a law. Heck if Snoop Dogg can’t get in, why on earth should she? Even Kanye West was denied at one point in time- and he’s mister ‘I Deserve Everything In Life’.
  • Rachael Ray and Ellen DeGeneres won Emmy’s at the Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host. I ALWAYS watch RR’s show in the morning (because I cannot stand The View or Regis & Kelly) and so, I am glad that it won for OTS because it’s seriously one of my favourite things to watch on tv. Abby loves to watch with me too. I honestly don’t watch Ellen that much because 3pm is a time of the day that I’m outside doing something else. As a host, she is amazing though- so witty and eloquent.
  • There’s this video on YouTube at the moment from a band called Creaky Boards who claims that Coldplay stole their melody riffs on ‘Viva La Vida’. I have total respect for the little guy in the music industry trying to make a buck but trying to sue Coldplay is not the way to go. I understand that the riffs are similar but it’s not like they stole them, no. The thing that annoyed me the most about CB is that they said “all British people look the same. I swore I saw Coldplay on every corner in London.” Uhhh, you need to get your eyes checked- for the last time I checked, I didn’t look the same as Chris Martin.

Random Update

  • I’m still feeling really broody. I understand what women are going through now that don’t even have one child. I don’t want to sound like I’m ungrateful, but I really want another baby and I just can’t stop thinking about it.
  • We had a family get-together this afternoon at a family house. Yes, another one- I’m absolutely exhausted after this weekend. Nick’s Dad came over and showered Abby with gifts that he hadn’t had the chance to give her from Easter and her 3rd birthday. It’s not that we stop him seeing Abby, it’s just that he has a bitch for a wife and she’s made it quite obvious that she doesn’t like us either. So now he is only allowed to see Abby if she isn’t with him. We will quite seriously take a restraining order out on the woman if she keeps up her stupid games that fuck with everyone in the family. My parents don’t like her either.
  • My house is a mess and I have four baskets of laundry to fold but I just don’t have the will nor the energy to do it. I’m such a lazy butt :p
  • I’ve been feeling so tired recently. I set my alarm for a certain time of the morning, but I always reach over to turn it off when it rings. Then I always sleep another hour and get up. I have been late for church for the last three weeks and it’s really starting to bug me now. I’m even going to bed early and I still sleep too long. Something has got to change because I am sleeping half of the morning away :(
  • My parents have offered to buy me a new camera for my birthday. It’s not until October but I can wait. DSLR, here I come!! Woooo! :D

Graduations

We all had a graduation party to attend this afternoon. It was Nick’s cousin and he’s also the last to graduate from high school until one of the little guys gets there (Colton, Abby and any one else who comes along in the future). He’s the youngest of the cousins, and Nick is the oldest- an age gap of 14 years. There was the giant spread of photos of the graduate through the years and Nick was also on there holding him when he was a baby. I have not seen one bad photo of my hubby, well there’s a few of him when he was a kid…but as a teenager- COME TO MAMA! I married such a hot man, he doesn’t look any different now than he did 14 years ago. A little bit more facial hair and obviously a little taller, but looks wise he was hot then and he’s hot now- I’m a lucky woman :D

Dog Bite

The three of us went out this afternoon to run some errands and on the way home in the car, Nick recommended that we stop at the park. So Abby and I got out of the car and Nick had to run one last errand…then he would come and join us. I so wish that he had been there for what was about to happen, I know that he would have given the dog owner a piece of his mind.

Nick dropped us off at the side of the road and we took the path alongside the baseball diamond that led to the tot lot at the back. We were happily walking along and Abby was being cute pointing out things and labelling them, when all of a sudden this loose dog on a leash appears out of nowhere and proceeds to knock Abby on her butt. I was a little annoyed about that but nothing major. So I go to pet the dog and he automatically tries to bite my wrist, so I yank my hand away. I then proceed to freak out a little but don’t start screaming until the dog jumps on Abby and attempts to bite her left shoulder. Then I full-blown, freak the fuck out and pick up Abby. By this time, Abby and I are screaming and crying and I try to run but the dog chases us. The dog’s owner FINALLY appears and grabs the dog’s leash and apologises profusely to me. He seemed more concerned about me than Abby, which pissed me off a whole lot as I wasn’t injured.

Luckily, Abby wasn’t badly injured- a few scratches here and there but nothing major. She is now really scared of dogs and thinks that they’re all really scary. Abby screams anytime one comes near her and she clings to me.

I seriously wish that dog owners would be more responsible. I understand that it’s a park, but there’s a kids playground too and if you’re dumb enough to let your dog run around by a playground then you obviously don’t have kids. And if you do, well you need to be castrated so you can’t have anymore.

Alton Towers

I did my usual glance at the Alton Towers map online last night and it’s not changed a whole lot, but some stuff just isn’t there or they changed it. Like the teacups, how could they take them out and replace them with rotating barrels instead? I understand that it’s a pirate themed area now…but still. The teacups was one of the oldest original rides :(

The other ride I adored (but has also been re-themed) is the Haunted House. The original was actually creepy and had some amazing effects. That (in my opinion) has all been ruined since the introduction of the laser guns, LED’s and strobe lighting in Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back. They also replaced all the portraits, and took away Henry and Emily Alton. Supposedly, Emily Alton is back now but her eerie rhyme is not because it clashes with the announcements of Duel. What tosh :(

Thank goodness my old favourites Ripsaw and Nemesis are still around though. Ripsaw’s a good ride if you’re too hot and need to cool down. Don’t go on there if you’ve just eaten though, as it flings you around like you’re inside a washing machine.

Nemesis on the other hand is just very, very fast and very, very scary. You sit in a carriage where your legs are dangling and you just feel like you’re getting tossed around on the ride like a ragdoll. I never fail to look terrified on the ride photo :p
