So tonight, I went on my yearly excursion down to Summerfest. I know some people around here will go for all 11 days and end up completely broke…but since they stopped doing the Summerfest pin promo a couple of years ago, I can only afford to go once. So, luckily for me Miranda Lambert was coming to town…so I automatically knew what night I would be going this year. And even more lucky, it was on a Sunday so Nick was able to stay home and spend some time with Abby while I went to see my favourite artist in the world
I was meeting some people up from the official boards and I had Tom’s number, so I called it when I got down there and they were already by the stage so I walked down there (avoiding the morons on the way- I almost got clobbered with a bratwurst because some drunk twat wasn’t watching what he was doing!). I know the Festival Grounds like the back of my hand, so I knew where the stage was and the quickest way to get to it. I noticed along the way that the Harley stage had undergone a face-lift and it was REALLY nice now. I suppose they did that to coincide with the opening of the Harley museum. Anyway, got down there pretty speedy with not too much hassle and I got to meet Tom, along with Jill and Steph from the board. Super nice people
The show started off with a warm up band (who looked strangely like Miranda from a distance) and I thought that I was late for the show…but it turned out I was lucky.

I was going to buy a t-shirt but Crysta the merch manager (also an admin on the board) looked hassled, so I went back a little later and bought the pink ‘CEG’ t-shirt. I really wanted the black ‘Gypsy Soul’ shirt, but they didn’t have it there
The ‘Wild Card’ shirt looked nice, but I was really drawn to the pink shirt- so of course I bought it. Was a little miffed that it cost $25 instead of $20, but I guess there must have been a merch charge that Summerfest was pinning on them to raise the prices or something.
But eventually, Miranda came on stage looking gorgeous and happy as usual. I cannot remember the whole set list for the life of me but there was a good mix of both albums (New Strings will always hold a special place in my heart because she filmed the video at my first show!) and it would have been an even better night if I didn’t have someone directly singing in my ear (and screaming too!) Unfortunately it was my good ear, so now it will be about as messed up as the other one. Sigh. So yeah…photos. Some are not the best quality, because of the retard next to me who was nudging me the whole night through…but the lighting is so beautiful that I cannot bring myself to delete them! LOL!!
